just finished a large jewerly box and used lacquer ,how would you finish it off (hand rubbing) to get high gloss look

It sounds like you have one coating of finish on , you do need to sand and rubout with scotchbrite type of pads and by all means re-coat a nice wet even thin coat .A beautiful Laquer finish with a mostly flawless surface has had sanding between multiple coats to build the finish .Also the inside of the box is difficult to get smooth results with spray so rub it out after you spray the out side .good luck
(1) Do you have any kind of spray equipment? (not necessary, but helpful)
(2) What kind of a brush did you use?
(3) Are you thinning the lacquer? If so, how much?
So long as you have not put anything on top of the existing lacquer, as high gloss finish is still possible. What have you done so far?
