I have built an armoire for my wifes quilt storage and have finished it with Macloc High solid low voc lacquer. My wife is concerned about any possible toxic or detrimental effect the finish may have on the quilts as they come in contact. Anyone had any experience or background on this?

I don't have any idea whether there would be any interaction between the lacquer and fabric. As an evaporative finish I suppose there isn't continuing "outgassing" to affect the fabrics. I would be more comfortable with shellac which is a better barrier against the acid fumes from woods.
In addition, I suspect that proper archival storage of fabric wouldn't let it come in direct contact with any finish, but would have conservation grade acid-free tissue between the fabric and other surfaces.
Lacquer finish on quilt armoire
Thanks SteveSchoene. I should be OK. She plans on using a storage fabric.
