I would like to put a sprayed lacquer finish over a tung oiled piece. Is anyone aware of any problems doing this. I’ve done lacquer over Watco oil years ago and did not have any problems. Comments appreciated.

It won't be a problem. Let the oil dry for a week if you can. Be careful when buffing the lacquer: if you buff through it, you might need to do a spot oil touch up before touching up the lacquer.
Dale,
It really depends on what the first finish really is. So many products call themselves "tung oil" yet have no tung oil in them at all.
If you know for a fact that you put real, partially polymerized tung oil on the wood, wiped the surface "dry" before the oil got tacky, and the piece has become hard and dry to the touch, then there is no problem overspraying with lacquer.
But if the "tung oil" product that you used is actually an oil/varnish mixture, as are so many of the products labeled tung oil, then you may have a varnish film on the surface. You should abrade that with steel wool to an even satin scratch pattern before applying lacquer.

Even beyond your caution is that the solvents and thinners in lacquer will react with an oil based finish that is not fully cured. If a "Tung Oil Finish" product was used, it should be allowed to cure for at least four weeks.Howie.........
The oil is a pure partially polymerized tung oil (Sutherland Welles). I will give the oil plenty of curing time, spray it with lacquer, and see what happens! Thanks for the inputs.

Follow up request
Hi, Dale, some years appear to have passed since you questioned and then proposed to laquer paint directly over a polymerized pure tung oiled object. My question today is the same as yours then. Can you respond for me and others, on this forum, to what degree of success or satisfaction resulted from your experience with that effort, please?
Cheers!
Kram
I have the same question from 2020. I’ve applied 3 coats of Rocklers Maloof Oil/Poly blend which is supposed to be equal parts BLO, Tung Oil and Polyurethane. I’d like to apply Deft Clear Wood Finish Semi Gloss which is a lacquer.
Thank you!
