I am trying to find a book with plans for a wooden toy called a “Ladder Tumbler.” I have found plans online for it, but for the price, I would rather just buy a book with more than one set of plans. Is anyone familiar with such a book?
Also, what is this type of toy called? Is it a kinetic toy? Are there books of just wooden kinetic toy plans?
Thanks,
Jason

I think Jacob's Ladder is a more common name for the toy you describe. A free how-to article can be found at

Or Google on "jacob's ladder" for other information.

Is this what you're asking about?

Hello,
Yes, the picture you attached is exactly what I am looking for. I have seen plans online, but they were around $12. For that price, I'd rather spend a few buck more and find a book with this and other projects.
Did you find those plans in a book or magazine?
Thanks,
Jason
From an old Shopsmith 'Hands On' issue. I'll look around and scan it in if you can't find it on Shopsmith's site.
Hello,
I checked the Shopsmith archives online. They go back to 2000 and I didn't see it there. I will contact them tomorrow to see if they have earlier issues available. If you do find it, I very much appreciate at least the issue date so I can hunt it down a little easier.
Thanks so much for responding,
Jason
I built something like this

several years ago, only with two ladders side by side. That way two kids can have races. :-)
