I don't know if we are talking about the same saw but here is a post of mine from a few months back.

In the time since then everything has gone fine - that means "no troubles" and "good performance".

I've had one for 6 years and no issues. I use it for everything from rough cutting to re sawing to sniping the shoulder off tenons. I can't compare it to anything else but I'm happy with it.

I have had a Laguna 16 HD for about 3 years with Resaw King blades and driftmaster fence (the stock fence is frustrating).
It just works! An experienced woodworker, who uses it from time to time, cannot believe the quality of the cuts - he has never seen a band saw like it.

Thanks, I have an opportunity to purchase a Laguna16HD bandsaw with a king re-saw blade
for $1,600 it is approx.5 yrs. old. I have not seen the saw but if it is in good condition do you think it is a good deal?
Assuming it's not been damaged, it should be a good buy. Was it used in a production environment?H
It was used in a small commercial woodworking shop, owner said it is in very good condition, some surface rust on the table.
Until i inspect it everything is up in the air. Thanks
I going to see the saw this week.,what should i pay close attention to?
You should see if it has the standard fence or has been upgraded with Laguna's Driftmaster. IMO, it is something you will want to add.Look for signs of abuse Otherwise ask for a demonstration. Make sure you see it re-saw and rip. These should be straight. I don't know enough about the technicalities but if it cuts OK then all should be well.Regards,Hastings
Thanks,No Drift Master, i saw the Drift Master on Amazon for $295.00
The shop I work at bought one a few years back and the early ones had a smaller motor(2hp I think) than the ones offered today. We burned up that motor in two years of what I would consider moderate use. They now, I believe, only offer that model with a three hp motor. The new motor works much better than the older, smaller one.
One thing to check on IMHO.
Thanks, This saw has a Baldor 4.5 hp motor.
I've owned one for 5 years and I still love it. Without question, my favorite shop machine. If the machine you're considering is in good condition, I'd grab it.

Thanks, i will give feedback if i purchase it.
I have a Laguna LT 18, and I absolutely love it. I just used it this evening to slice some veneer from 10" wide quilted Bubinga. The Resaw King blade is amazing. I figured I may as well make a few pieces of veneer that I can use for something else instead of making planer shavings. The stock fence on my LT18 works great. I just set the distance from the blade with 3 playing cards and saw. Works great every time. I used to have a 14" Jet. I hated it. Having a real bandsaw opens up so many woodworking options like making bookmatched panels and veneers.
I have had a Laguna 16 HD for seven years. Best machine I have ever owned. I use the Woodslicer blade from Highland Hardware (1/2") for resawing. Casts about $30. I can cut veneer all day long. In fact, except for using a 1/4" blade for cutting carbiole legs, and the like, the 1/2 blade is all I use. I leave the blade tensioned (per Michael Fortune) and also with the blade properly centered on the wheels, there is NO DRIFT (also per Michael Fortune). The stock fence works just fine.

PS I also have a Robland X-31 from Laguna Tools which I would never buy again. So it isn't Laguna I am in love with.
