Personally, I would go with Grizzly,MiniMax, Powermatic ,Steel City, Delta or Jet before I went with Laguna. They are a much smaller company than the others and you may not be able to get parts or service in the near future the way this economy is going. Just my opinion.Laguna has also been reamed on the internet for their lack of quality customer service.
I've purchased the 16" Laguna
I've purchased the 16" Laguna Bandsaw 3000 series. Purchased means paid for... after 2 months they aren't delivering yet! Despite the fact that they keep advertising...they evidently can't deliver? On 12/7 I placed the order and they assured me of 12/18 delivery. On 12/17 they told me it was still 10 days out...then on 12/31...they said it wouldn't be in THEIR warehouse till 1/27... then about 1/20...they thought it would be Feb 10th....that's today. Still no word. I think I made a big mistake with this company...despite the fact that the saw does appear to win awards... I'm suspicious.
Below is a copy of the post I made to another member this morning. This 16" saw is my second Laguna and I have not have any problems (other than the handle) with either one.
I own a MiniMax combo machine that I dearly love. This ownership puts me on the MM users group. I see many problems with their bandsaws but have no personal experience with them.
I have had no problems with my 6-month-old 16" Laguna saw. The one issue I raised: the knob on the blade tension handle was missing, was handled immediately. It arrived soon after my request. I hope you will be as happy as I am.
But - I bought the Driftmaster fence. I liked the concept of a lead screw to advance the fence into the cut a consistent amount on each cut of a lam. The mounting is a B****! The sawn results are good but, as I said -.
If you purchased that fence and the mounting appears to be improved, please let me know.
