Hi
I have been very amazed and confused about all the comments on dust collecting. I am building a new shop and getting very serious about my woodworking. Dust is a big issue for me so I want good dust control, and that means hepa. I am thinking about the laguna p flux dust collection system. Does anyone have any experience with it?
I am aware of the customer service reputation. I would like to understand if this is a good tool?

I don't have any experience with p flux. Customer service should be as high a quality as the equipment you are buying. If you can't get good service for your purchase what good is it. Before I make a purchase I shop around looking at all the systems available. I also read all the reviews on what you are shopping for. I have found most times you get what you are paying for. Also always look at what you are buying before you buy it. Looks like Rockler sells Laguna. They have some reviews at their web site for dust collection. Maybe if you have a store nearby, they may have one you can look at. Good Luck.
Thank you for your comment. I quite agree with you.
Perhaps my statement about customer service has been misunderstood. I have been researching the contents of this shop for 9 months. Of all the components the dust collection is the hardest for me to pin down. In my research I have learned from several people that Laguna CSi is very good today. I have read several reviews that eliminate the brand because of poor CS in the past. I do not think this is a problem now. I just want to know if this product is any good.
I believe you will find value in looking at reviews of this and other short-cone cyclones currently present in the market; Jet, JDS, Laguna, etc. The fundamental caution with the short-cone machines is the frequency of reports that the separation is less than stellar. This leads folks to try to per-separate spoil, add additional filter media to avoid rapid clogging/reduced performance and so forth. JMHO but, the only reason to settle for a short-cone machine is if you cannot shoe-horn in a full sized cyclone. I would make every effort to do so before going short. Surf the forums for owners comments and you may see the trend of which I speak.
I currently run the P-Flux 3 in my shop. I use it with a larger planer and molder which produce a lot of chips. I have been very pleased so far with the results. It is a bit noisy, as are all dust collectors at this size, but you should be using hearing protection anyway when running your machinery, so it's not a problem for me.
I just got my Laguna P Flux 3 dust collector put together and I can't get the drum lid suction tube to line up with the vacuum suction tube on the Octagon drum it's off about a 1"? Help
Did you use the cardboard Gauge they provide to align the lid? It's been awhile since I built mine(wouldn't want to do that again) but I do remember that was specially mentioned in the instructions to insure tube alignment.
Check into the lead time for a Laguna DC. Also look at how the collection drum is assembled. It has bolts that while they provide rubber covers for them they come off and snag the plastic bag and tear holes in the bag.
Oneida has a comparable V-3000 DC that is made in the USA.
