I need to laminate 2 pieces of clear polycarbonate for a router jig. What type of glue should I use, and what should I use to clean the surfaces?

Contact the place that sells polycarbonate plastic for the proper glue and preparation information. We always use lexan over polycarbonate because of the brittleness factor of polycarbonate but then again I don't know your exact application. Try http://www.usplastic.com
They sell all sorts of plastics and adhesives for them or look in your local yellow pages for plastic dealers.
There are special glues to use for polycarbonate, generally a mix of methylene dichloride. There are also two-part cements, but check with your plastic distributor. For your information, Lexan is just a trade name for polycarbonate.
Don't clean with anything with solvent in it-- it'll craze the material.
In architecture school, I had seen people use acetate. For big sheets, find a shallow dish or pan and pour in enough to just cover the bottom. Dip the sheet in so that the whole surface is submerged. I believe they would dip both pieces and then place together. The acetate actually melts the plastic and when evaporated, dries hard and clear, leaving an almost invisible seam.
Do you mean acetone or are you talking about an acetate ester?

i meant acetone. i must have been typing too fast.
Is that true? I used acetone for glueing perspex (metacrylate) but never tried it with polycarbonate.
