Looking for ideas for the large Cherry Burl and the Maple Burl.
I do not have a large lathe and the cherry burl is so large that it will have to be
cut up with the chainsaw to move it.
Your suggestions would be welcome as far as how to process these pieces.

Just leave them there and I'll do you a favor and haul them away for you. It'll save your back, I'm always thinking of my fellow man!

I'd build a Pagota over it and grill on it and tell all the folks that et' your food...... THAT could have been the fire wood but I wanted ya' to Enjoy it!
Send 'em to me. It will prevent you from getting any dangerous splinters.
Garry,
I was wondering how you're going to cut it, thicknesses of burl, and how you're going to dry it?
Thanks,
Bill
I'm still trying to figure how I will cut it. I have never had one anywhere this large before. I have recieved a couple of good suggestions but it is still up itn the air. Any large pieces will be sealed with anchorseal and smaller pieces I may soak in DA.I am looking for suggestions.

I would be tempted to cut in half, seal it and let it air dry for 3-4 years.
Then locate someone who has a 20" bandsaw and have at least one half made into veneer.1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
btw,
garry, can we see how this looks once you crack it open? i bet it's beautiful.
I'll try to remember to post some photos as this thing becomes something different.
I will be posting photos on this page if you want to keep posted and I forget to post photos here.http://www.superwoodworks.com/Wood/Burls.htm
