I have a client that wants an 8×10 photo of a person’s head laser etched on to a piece of cherry wood 14″ x 16″. This will be in the middle of a wall mural.
Has anyone ever had this done and how did it come out? Does anyone know of any web sites that provide this service with pictures of the final product. I want the client to buy off on the product before I have the photograph reproduced as a laser etching.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Look in your area for someone who makes and etches the labels for trophies (as in bowling, liitle league baseball, etc). The process by which they often do the lettering is with a laser.
It should work nicely on the cherry, but they may complain about the smoke that is generated.
I USE A HIGH SPEED ENGRAVING TOOL TO DO THE SAME THING, ANYONE WITH
A PARAGRAVE SYSTEM CAN DO THE JOB. YOU MAY WANT TO CONTACT
PARAGRAVE CORP IN UTAH THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU OF AN ENGRAVER
IN YOUR AREA. THIER NUMBER IS 1 800 343 1717.

I just did a Google search for
"laser engraving" wood photographs
and got over 400 hits. The first one I came to that had full size samples was http://www.okielaser.com/main.html There are probably others.
Thanks for the website. I will give them a call. I appreciate the help.
