Hi
Has anyone ever put a laser guide on their miter saws? I know Avenger has one for under $20.00. Do these guides work, or are they more trouble than they are worth? I have not heard any reviews on this product. Good or bad.

Before I built a miter saw station, I bought the lazer guide from Rockler, put it on my saw and was/am very happy with it. It made measuring my cuts more accurate as I would use the lazer beam to line up with my cut line on the stock. The lazer turns itself on/off at 500 RPM and also helps in double checking correct miter angles just before cutting.
Even with that in place, I still couldn't get perfect repeating cuts until I built the saw station with sliding T track stop blocks. Now that that I have the saw station I don't really have the need for the lazer guide anymore, even though it's still on the saw.

I tried the Avenger on a venerable Makita - it was on sale and I had been lusting after a laser. I had to put a couple of spacers (from a dado stack) behind the blade to get it to tighten up enough to use. It worked, but it didn't exactly line up with the blade - in other words, not very accurate, but it was predictable. I finally gave in and replaced the Makita with a dual beam Porter Cable. Fantastic! One of the kids will get the Makita.

Hi
Thank you all for writing back. It looks like add ons don't always work. I might try one on my Delta miter saw. If I do not like it, I can return it. If I get a new miter saw, I will make sure it has a laser on it.
