I bought a Dewalt DW7187 laser system for my Dewalt 12 inch miter saw. After several hours of trying to “adjust” it I am ready to find a blade mounted unit. Irwin makes the only one I’ve found so far; and it specifically says it will not work on a 12 inch miter saw with a thin kerf blade. I seem to recall reading a test on these units-anyone have any solutions? Thanks, JC

I've been using the Irwin unit for 2 years with out problem. Just wish it was both sides of the blade!
I've had a LaserKerf for 3-4 years. Only problem is keeping sawdust off the lens.
Made the mistake of cutting some PVC pipe with the LaserKerf. Landed up with PVC shavings stuck to the lens. The PVC must have melted a litte and then stuck...PITA. Now I use plastic wrap over the lens when cutting anything but wood.
As far as accuracy...real nice for framing but I stick to a table saw sled when I need accuracy...1/32 or better.
Thanks for the info-are you using it on a thin kerf blade?
Works with all the dewalt and irwin blades. Thin or other wise.
About three years ago I bought the Delta 36-255L twin laser miter saw.
Although Delta's quality has suffered of late, and this saw was no exception, with a few adjustments and a new left fence I haven't looked back. The lasers are integral and easy to adjust. Once adjusted they stay that way.
It's great having a laser on both sides of the blade. The only real down side is it's very had to see in sunlight so when I have it outside for one of those home projects I have to shade the work piece with my hand to see the laser line.

Thanks for the info on the delta saw.
Hi All,
Sorry jccndakoda. I'm not trying to hijack this thing but I have a question. Of the laser lines I've seen, I have found them to be fat ( wide ) and ill defined. I can't really see where the true line is. Have they gotten better or is it just me?
Paul
That's why the 2-laser system is the best -- you're not working to a line, fat or small, you're using the actual kerf of the blade (gap between the two lasers) to set the stock. I can only dream, LOL.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Doesn't it drive you nuts. I have a Bosch saw, and the laser gizmos say "Nope, won't work on a Bosch."
