Hi all
I’m looking for information about a Jet JWL 1236 Lathe.
Does anyone have one and know about it.
Can anyone give me a copy of the instruction manual.
Any idea what thread is used on the head.
What taper is used on the tailstock.
Any idea what accessories are available and from where.
Thanks to everyone on this thread in advance, I’m still amazed at
the knowledge out there by the readers.

Hi Jeff
I have one - just put it together the other day. The thread is 1X8. The tailstock is a #2 Morse taper. I can scan the instruction manual and send it to you as a .PDF file. The catch is, I'm leaving for Germany today and I won't be back until the 28th. If you can wait 'til then, shoot me an email and I'll be happy to do it. Perhaps someone else can help before then...

Are you sure about that.
The one I bought was at least 5 years old and the greenish-gray color.
If it's the same model number, did they just change the color?
I just assumed it was discontinued, I'll call Jet and see if I can
get a Manual from them.
I'll let you know if I need you to copy it for me.
No hurry, I just lucked onto it yesterday. Wasn't really looking for
another lathe actually, as I bought another used one this past weekend.
I guess you never know what's gonna come along.

Hi Jeff
Mine is the old-style green-painted version. It was purchased 3 years ago, right before the color change, and never assembled until now. Let me know if the manual you requested from Jet does not show up - I'll scan mine and email it to you.

Thanks Mark
Mine is the same color.
I've been waiting for the Manual from Jet for over a week now.
If it doesn't show by next week I'll let you know.

Haven't heard a peep from Jet.
If you could send me that manual it would be great.
My email is: [email protected]
If it's easier, I'll be happy to re-inburse for a Zerox copy and mail.

I just bought the Jet 1236 lathe for $450 at Woodworkers Warehouse. Normally $570. That seems like a good price. I think the sale may still be on.
I was lucky and picked up one in mint condition, with tools, in the
older green color for $150.00

Jeff - You can obtain the manual for any Jet lathe, or other machine, at the Jet web site. Go to http://www.jettools.com, which will take you to the WMH Tool Group web site, the parent company. Click on the Jet logo, which will bring up the Jet tools page. Click on "manuals" in small print in the bottom center of the page, then choose the manual that you want. The manuals are displayed in Adobe PDF format and you need to have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to read and/or download the manual. Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free download at http://www.adobe.com. Good luck.
Thanks JD
I didn't know the correct site for Jet.
I'll try it.
Jeff
My computer can't access the Jet site, so I was unable to pick up any
info.
I called Jet, they said they would send me a manual, but still hasn't
come in.
Jeff
Jeff,
Can't understand why you can't access their site, but anyway, Jet does not have the manual for the 1236 available there. (They do have them for other models.) Seems strange, doesn't it?
