I am just setting up a small workshop in my garage and will be doing quite a bit of work with laminate plywood. Some plans come with a cutting diagram, some don’t. Anyway, I like to modify a plan to fit and that means that a new cutting diagram for the 4′ x 8′ ply is needed. I have tried to do this manually and have found my skills to be lacking.
I am looking at using either Cutlist Pro or Sheetlayout ver. 9. Both are relatively inexpensive for the hobbyist.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I have never used Cutlist, so my review is extremely one sided.
I have used Sheetlayout through many version upgrades. It does a good job of maximizing the use of sheet goods. I have never tried it for any other material.
I find it fairly intuitive and easy to use. The few questions that I have asked have been quickly answered.
And I'll provide the one sided view from the CutList side.
I used it quite a lot for a while (then stopped doing anything that required it).
I thought it was quite easy to use and did a good job of optimizing the parts, although it was sensitive to orientation. A long part always oriented long way on the sheet. This wasn't always the best choice if the grain was important. It may have improved with recent upgrades. I would suggest checking it out.
