Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and woodworking.
I bought a side table recently and while sanding the three layers of different paints, I discovered what I believe to be a leather inlay.
It looks like one but is almost waxy in texture.
I tried to remove the paint as gently as I could but I left marks.
Do you have any advice to rehydrate and revive it?
Thank you,
Justine.

I suggest you check out Michael Mascelli on Instagram and DM him with your problem. I have no idea if he will respond but it may be worth a try. Good luck.
Thank you for your reply. I will try to contact him.
I wish I could give a useful tip or two, but I’m without even a hint of one.
I think the suggestion to contact Mike Mascelli is an excellent one. I hope he can be of help.
If you will, I’d love to hear about what you end up doing with this.
Hello. Sorry, I think I missed the notification for your comment. I tried to contact mister Mascelli but I didn't get any reply yet, which I can understand.
I think I will just try to remove the remaining paint as gently as I can and use a leather reviving cream. It's really hard to the touch so I don't think it will come back to a leathery texture but the color is nice so it should go well with the wood.
I'll post pictures of the results once I'm done.
