Hey everyone,
I need help locating pieces of leather for front vice pads and mallet faces. Does anyone have a source for thick leather, a source where you don’t have to purchase an entire cowhide
Thanks,
John

Hi, jpat this is a link put in earlier by R. Millard, for leather writing surfaces don’t know if they can help, http://www.vandykes.com . garyowen
Try Tandy Leather Factory and look under the leather tab.
Charlie will help you
I suppose you already looked but if you can find a Tandy, or other leather shop, where they give classes etc., they have a scrap box and you just dig around until you find something. Could look for a moccasin maker. Here is one near me. The soles are very thick.

Ask for Charlie, the owner, he will ship you some.

Thanks for all the help ....
What helped most was knowing exactly what the leather terminology is.
Found what i needed on Ebay.
thanks again everyone ,

Leather source
Hi John.... Why not try the obvious... find a local shoe repairman and talk to him. He's probably got what you want in stock. It may cost a few cents more, but you can see exactly what you're getting, and besides, you won't have to pay for shipping.
