to all you furniture makers: does anyone know of any good sources of leather upholstery fabric in the Seattle or Western Washington area? I’ve already checked out Tandy and Rochford online.

Hi, jvd, greetings from a fellow NW-er (Bainbridge Island). I Googled on leather wholesale Seattle and got 3 hits (see top of this page) that looked promising. Only one has a web site, though, MacPherson Leather.
If you don't get any help here, call around to the upholstery repair folks and ask them for sources. Since you're a woodworker, they probably won't be too shy about giving you source info.
jvd,
Try a good upholstery shop. I know it sounds crazy ;-))
Upholstery leather is not cheap, esp if you only get a few sq ft. Purchasing a whole or even half hide will usually bring the price down per ft somewhat. And if the upholsterer is the one doing the seat covering for you, you will sometimes get a break on either the material, or his labor, if you get the leather from him.
A place that does harness repair may also have some leather in stock that might be suitable for upholstery, but it'll be hit or miss.
