I’m making a Morris chair and need a source for good quality (but not too expensive) leather for the cushions. Anyone have any suggestions?

If I may make a suggestion, spend the money on the best hides you can find. I've made a couple of Morris chairs and quality upholstery work can make or break the finished product for years after you move it from the shop to your home. Top grain aniline dyed hides are expensive because they are the best hides, and you'll probably need 2 for the seat and back cushion.
The last chair I did cost me $1,300 for the upholstery work but I'll tell you now, it's still perfect today and very comfortable.
Woodman, thanks for the advise. I basically had come to the same conclusion, but I had no idea leather would be so expensive. Should have checked it out before I started the chair. jd
Yeah, I was surprised as well (fortunately for me I used a friend recommendation for my upholstery shop and the guy was honest enough to show me his invoice for the hides). The nice thing about having to pay top $$ for something like this is that you never think of that part once it's done. Even though the leather cost me a lot for my chairs I absolutely love the experience of sitting in them and the cost part just doesn't enter my mind.
