I am building an arts and crafts settle and wondered if anyone knew of a good source to order custom leather cushions; want to make sure it is comfortable so I don’t want to risk doing this myself. Thanks, MWJ.

There are probably custom upholstery shops in your area that could make one for you. Plus it would/could be made to the proper size for your setee.
While I cant say that this is necessarilly a good idea for everyone, it did work for me. After using a couple of upholstry shops and not really getting the results I was expecting (seems that they are all geared more towards repairs and slip covers) I tried a local automotive upholstry shop. The prices were fair and these guys were used to doing custom work. They also knew a lot of fancy detail work and were excited to use it.

Hadn't thought of that avenue, MudMan but true - they're probably more geared up for working leather anyway.
I got the idea from watching American Hot Rod. Then I called a couple of places and found a shop in Dallas that sounded promising. And yes I was suprised that the upholsters I found in the yellow pages seemed inexperienced with leather, unless it was a repair. I guess leather to too expensive to recover a couch with, you could buy a new one cheeper. I also talked to the gals at my local shoe/ saddle shop. They didn't seem very excited though. Aparently after covering complicated car seats furniture is easy for the auto motive guys. The shop I used does custom work for lowrider type cars.

I just finished a prairie style sofa and chair last month for Providence and I had a local upholsterer do that for me. He used a soft nogahide (sp?) that only ran me $650 for the finished cushions. Actual leather will be a LOT more, Probably at least $2000 - $2500. Could be a lot more then that. Check the yellow pagesfor an upholsterer and you should be able to find someone. They should want the settle to make sure that every thing fits properly.

If you are interested in some upholstery leather, I have 30-40 hides of black. If you are interested, I sell it for $2 sq ft, and can send you a sample piece so you can check it out first.
