So I now have a pair of Lee Valley’s electronic hearing protectors (see FWW#189, p. 66). When I turn the unit ON, the red indicator light (“power Indicator” according to the manual) does not turn on. Lee Valley customer service tells me this is okay, that maybe the LED will light when the battery power is low. So I tried putting in some worn batteries (1.1v each), and it still didn’t go on.
Does anybody else have this unit, and how does your power indicator work?

Send 'em back. LV has great customer service, they'll replace them for sure.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I bought a pair for my wife @ xmas. The red indicator light works properly. They work fine and in my opinion are very comfortable. (She has yet to use them).
But, I agree LV will happily trade you for a new pair.

The Sawdust shop
You will have no problems sorting this out,the best company I have ever dealt with.
send them back Lee Valley even pays the freight to return
Here they send you a new one and you put the old one in the same box using the prepaid postage sticker inclosed in the box and its a done deal
If only everyone else was as easy to deal with
I recently returned a tool i couldent understand how to use nor could the clerks i dealt with and they refunded my money even though i had engraved my name into it
"try doing that elsewhere"
