I bought their 1000/4000 water stone awhile ago . Anyone have this same stone it’s stamped made in japan. One side is brown the other tan, I couldn’t tell just by feel but am I right that the brown side is 1000 and the tan 4000? Also, for those using waterstones, do you always keep them submerged in water or just soak them for a few minutes before use? I didn’t like the idea of keeping a water filled container in the shop that I know will inevitably get knocked over. Thanks for you help.

And you don't even have to go to the Care and Use section, the description has the answer: "They are economically priced, require only a quick soaking before use, ....."
My 1000 and 4000 I just soak for 15-20 minutes prior to use. Pretty much standard.
Attached is a screen grab from Lee Valley. The color of the King 4000-only stone is light tan and the King 1000-only stone is brown.
I'm guessing those colors hold true for the combo stone as well.
