We recently put down a pre-finished 3/4″ T&G teak wooden floor and we have a decent amount of flooring left over. Has anyone out there build a dining room table from T&G wood flooring? I’d like to try to use the existing finish but I would like to make this either an oval or circular table so I will have to cut into the glued boards. I’m wondering if anyone has built a dining room table from T&G flooring and I assume Iwould just use wood glue? Any other ideas would be helpful…Any pictures if you have any would also be great! Here are some pictures of the floor…

I helped a friend lay down a bamboo T&G floor awhile back, and got some of the left-over pieces. I planed down the back to a final quarter-inch thickness and trimmed off the T&G sides, then used them as veneered pieces. I kept the original finish on the bamboo, but used solid cherry to surround the veneer. To finish the cherry I masked off the bamboo veneer and applied finish to the cherry. It worked beautifully.
Good luck! You have a beautiful floor--now go for it with your table!

OK, Here goes. The first picture is the completed bamboo floor. Next is a cabinet I built (two more to go) which will be my miter saw station when completed. Notice the bamboo trim piece above the drawers. Also note the decorative trim on the bottom two drawers. This is more revealing in the third photo.
Eventually there will be a center cabinet on which the miter saw will be affixed, and a twin cabinet to the first one, only to the left of the miter saw. The tops of the two flanking cabinets will be flush with the base of the miter saw.

Bert,
Thanks for the pictures. I really like the bamboo touch in the cabinet. I guess my options are limitless. Looking at your pictures makes my mind start to wander...Regards,

I built this cabinet for a customer about a year ago and used oak parquet flooring for the door panels. It was a fun project. They wanted a piece that would compliment a 30 yr old dining room hutch and I spent quite a bit of time working on moldings and stains. When I delivered it, it looked like the two pieces had been made at the same time.
Dave,
Nice job on this. I really like it and thanks for the ideas...
