I have an inexpensive Sears saw with a left tilt blade that I have found easier to use and more friendly than my buddy’s right tilt. Even he has mentioned liking the left tilt better. Now that I am considering replacing my saw, and looking at Delta contractor’s saws, I am wondering why most contractor’s saws only come right tilt. I don’t think I can afford the $ or the space for a cabinet saw where I would have a choice. Can someone tell me what the advantages are to either of them?

I think the left tilt saws are safer. A left tilt won't bind, or at least it would be difficult to get it to bind. They also keep your hands further from the blade.
the powermatic 64a is a left tilt contractors saw. as well as an excellent machine for the money. I am not sure whether or not jet makes a left tilt contractors saw.
If you have a contractors saw you will have enough room for a cabinet saw because in the 24"- 30" to the right fence system they don't take up any more room actually they take up less room because the motor is underneath. The Grizzly G1023SL is a very good left tilt cabinet saw for around $875 + $75 shipping.

I have no affiliation with Grizzly other than I like their tools. When I replace my current saw this is the one I'll get. I have friends that have the right tilt & this is just like it only left tilt. One heavy duty saw for a lot less bucks.
