Has anyone used a ‘Library catch’? I saw them described in an article by Christian Becksvoort (Keeping Doors Closed,FWW #114). I checked his sources of supply and my own, without finding them.
Where do you get them and do they work?
Thanks

See http://www.leevalley.com/hardware/page.aspx?c=2&p=40115&cat=3,41399,41415.
The page contains an explanation of how they work as well.
By the way, they're called library catches because they were (and maybe still are) used to secure carrel doors in libraries. Do libraries with lockable carrels exist any more?

Thanks for the source, has anyone used this type of catch? How well do they work? Are they fussy to install & adjust?
Ok I am lost, as far as I can tell it only holds on side closed so what holds the door closed that triggers it? Do you put another latch of some sort on it?
Doug
Typically, the way it's set up is that the library catch secures the left door, and then an ordinary cupboard latch secures the right door to the stile of the left door. You close the left door first, as you would in a normal cabinet. Then you close the right door, which causes the library catch to engage, which in turn holds the left door in place. Then you latch the right door to the left door, with the latch.
