Does anyone knolw of a source for free plans of a library chair – the sort which opens up to form steps when the back is lowered to the ground. I can improvise from my existing chair design but wou.d benefit from someone else’s ideas. Many of the designs I have seen over the years appear too folksy for my use. Any suggestions ? I could not find what I wanted in fine woodworking but it may be that I did not look hard enough. Larry

Thank you for your informatilon. I had a look at the referred note and the sites mentionedn the discussion. These contain photos/sketches of what I am looking for, but no free plans. Perhaps I am simply being mean and should buy some plans. Larry
One of these is on my to do list, probably after I marry off my currently 10 year old daughter the way things are going.
The approach I had decided was to take the approximate scale of the 'country' style for which I could get plans or measure an example in a shop, and then use the photos and illustrations to tart it up to a quality I wanted. Seems to work for tables.
