I attended the show on Friday and was able to take a pictures of a few new tools.
First is a version of Stanley 71 router plane which is due out within a few weeks. Not pictured is a version of the smaller 171 router plane which was in a drawing for a door prize. The plane is just about shipping now. I have the Stanley version and it felt strange to hold the Lie-Nielsen version with it much better machining. The next picture is a curved chairmakers spokeshave which is also due out very shortly.
The are a few new tools due out in the coming year.

So did I ! I liked the new shavehorse by Brian Boggs; sold by Lei-Nielsen.
Also liked the new spoke shave; very nice.
Thanks for the photos. Wrong time of year for me to take a trip. Wish they had done this earlier in the fall. Feel free to post more photos if you got 'em.

Hey Ron,
How was the show? I tried to make it, but work kept me. Were the demos good? Did they have any of the Lie workbenches on display also? Lastly, how was the attendence, hoping they will do it again nxt yr?
Thanks

Well, I got there right at the beginning so I can't really say how the rest of the show went. I spent about 2 hours and didn't participate in all that many demos as I already knew what I was looking for. It wasn't a large area but it began to get fairly busy while I was there. I suspect Saturday was a better day for attendance with many people off from work.
I didn't know that Auriou was going to be there but I spent a little time trying some of their rasps and did buy a new one. I really appreciated being able to see a lot of the rasp collection in one place and to try a few. I now have a better idea of which rasps I am likely to buy in the future.
I was interested in the Stanley 71 and 171 as I had talked to Tom Lie-Nielsen a couple of years ago at another show and he mentioned that he was looking at doing a version but was trying to come up with a better adjustment method. I think he succeeded very well but it did take him awhile.
I did talk to another Lie-Nielsen employee about some future products and didn't get much detail(a Travisher will be ready soon) except that it appears they have several items in the pipeline for the coming year.
They did have a nice display of the manufacturing process for a plane and many of their items were available to try out. Harrison Stanley was there with the Shapton stones and I had a chance to talk to him a little about them. I already use them so he didn't have much luck selling me anything new. Chris Schwarz was there and drew a consistent crowd so I didn't get to see much of what he was doing.
I walked out with a new #4, #140, a set of chisels and a few other items so he did alright with me. I don't know how things went otherwise but if it went ok I suspect he will try a few new locations before returning to Boston. We are close enough to get up to Maine to the factory but I have to admit I liked the show and would go again if it is close enough.
Almost forgot - I guess the workbenches were there but because I have just built a new one I really didn't pay that much attention. I did try out the shaving horse and it's a beauty.

Ron,
Thanks for the reply. I am actually starting to put my final plans together for building my own bench. I know that Lie-N has a front vise offered instead of the traditional shoulder, and I was interested to see the construction.
Thanks for a great reply.
Sounds like I saved myself some $$. Ha,Ha
Hello RonK,
I don't suppose you have a picture of the 271 would you. Also was there any information on the release date of the No 81 spokeshave in the background of that curved chairmakers spokeshave? I don't suppose they had a drawknife there as well? Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the 271 although if you shrink the picture of the 71 you are close. The 271 should be available now although it probably won't show up on the website for awhile. The spokeshave I believe should be available right after the 1st of the year. I used a drawknife when I tested the horse but I don't believe it was a LN one.
You best bet might be to call LN and ask after the first of the year. The individual I spoke with was non committal about what the future offerings were except there are quite a few in the pipeline for the coming year.
