On woodnet they are always praising the glory of Clarence over at fine tool journal. I personally don't have any experience with him, but his posted prices are 10% cheaper than Lie Nielsen's posted prices and he offers to free ups shipping.

Everytime I call them, they never have in stock what I need. 0 for 3, my last 3 purchases. I end up going to my local woodcraft, they give me 10 percent off for being a frequent flyer (I've spent a TON there), and I don't have to worry about the shipping. Buying local came in very handya month ago, as my new 4 1/2 York smoother had a problem with the milling process of the mouth. It was on an angle to the plane body (crooked). I called Tom in Palatine, and he even stayed open about 45 minutes late for me to drive there (1 hour), and replaced it for me on the spot.
I don't think you can beat service like that on the internet.

Jeff, maybe you got the proto-type York Skewther by mistake?? ;)(:Philip Marcou

It's funny you say that. When I called Woodcraft back, I told them that I didn't need a skew smoother. Tom over there got a pretty good kick out of that. LOL. Thanks.

Periodocially, Woodcraft will have sales of 15% off on L-N planes.
I've purchased all my LN planes from Clarence at the fine tool journal. Not only are his prices consistently lower than everyone else, he offers free shipping as well.
Take a look at http://www.thebestthings.com. Generally have very good prices. Lower than msrp. And, in my experience they have had great service.

Charnwood,
You can find the L-N planes 10% off at Woodshows and I have seen a few of them on sale at Woodcraft. Woodcraft does have a 10% sale once or twice a year on everything in the store. Other than that they seem to be the same price everywhere. I have several and they are excellent.
Erik
Charnwood,
I saw the latest woodcraft flyer and it had the L-N block plane for $125. That is a savings of $25.
Erik
Thank you Erik123 I,ve seen the flyer
