Hello everyone,
I am working with some very light colored lilac and some very white colored maple. I am having trouble finding an oil, stain or varnish that doesn’t immediately yellow or discolor these pieces in my project. Does anyone have a suggestion? I would like to bring out the luster of these two woods without the yellowing effect.

Pdgood,
All oil-based products will cause at least slight darkening and yellowing. The maple will continue to yellow over several years.
Lacquers will not cause as much yellowing and may eliminate it, although maple yellows with age.
Ultra blonde shellac will not yellow.
My best recommendations are water-based varnishes and lacquers which will impart no color to the wood.
