I have found a set of older Linco Chisels. There are 8 pieces in an old plain finger jointed box. Vary in size from 1/4″ upto 1 1/2″ wide, seem to be stainless or high nickel chrome; average blade lenght = 5 1/2″ followed by approx 4″ wooden handel, with metal ring tacked on. Backs are not quite flat. Some grinding, honeing to be done etc. My questions aree not value of money but as towards the usefulness of these tools. Will I like them, will it be worth the time to tune these up? I know nothing of this tools maker, tool steel, Rc Hardness etc. Any Help Please. Thanks Craig

I did an Internet search and couldn't find any real information on the brand. I sounds like this is a complete set. Without pictures it is hard to guess at the condition of the chisels. Also impossible to guess the quality of the steel without sharpening them and working with them some. Even most new chisels need some work to flatten the backs (the backs on my LN set were dead flat out of the box). Will you like them, can't say. I love my LN and Narex sets, others hate them. Once you get past the quality of the steel you get into subjective stuff. Do the chisels feel balanced in your hand? Do you feel like you have control of them. If not pass on them and spend your money on a known brand. Just my thoughts.
