Hi I’m trying to figure out how to layout a pattern using a compass i attached a pic of the design I’m pretty sure that’s how it is done I’ve tried to look around but couldn’t find anything so any advice or links to help would be helpful thanks!!!

Ton of work for manual layout. If you print it with a laser printer you can use an iron to transfer the design to a surface. Looks like it is set up for legal size paper, you can even scale it up or down as you like. You can use an inkjet printer if you buy iron-on transfer paper. It works pretty well on smooth surfaces.
For something like that,mirror image geometric design, I would use gridded paper like that and draw 1/4 the drawing. I'd fold (that's two separate folds, left right and top bottom and trace. There's some compass work there for sure but I would probably do most of it with afrench curve.
Ouch.
All of this is done with a compass - it's a matter of setting the correct radius and position for each curve (duh...) - How to do that, is the art of it.
Your best bet for working it out is to copy it onto a larger grid and overly circles from a circle drawing template until you find both the correct diameter and get an idea of the centre.
TBH I'd just enlarge the image with Gimp and print it out.
