all,
I’m about to line an Ash raised panel chest with So. Am. aromatic cedar. I resawed the cedar to about 1/10″ thickness and I’m not sure how to attach it to the interior of the box. Should I put a finish on the piece first(inside and out) and then tack down with some glue (epoxy)? thaks

I assume you plan to leave the cedar unfinished, for the aroma, so finish the inside of the box with a sealer before applying the cedar. Shellac would work well.

I am "Woody", whose real name is Woody, not "woody", whose real name is Ken. I am so confused...
Ditto, and I would simply press fit it in place, perhaps with a dab of hot melt glue in the center of each panel.Regards,

Boris,
My next step is to sand the edge to a kinda 45 degree so they will intersect tightly...a dab in the middle will have it affixed to the panels...which move too..thanks
woody,
Yes, your correct, I'm leaving the cedar raw...and quite possibly will only put garnet shellac on the the Ash..maybe oil first. thanks
I would recommend liquid nails, perhaps 3 or 4 small dots per piece, pressed securely into place, one surface at a time, left overnight under weight.
Finish the chest interior similar to exterior before installing the unfinished lining.
With aromatic cedar this thin, the aroma and bug repellency will diminish significantly after two or three years, especially if there is much "traffic".

Tail,
On the top edge of the box, but under the lid, I'm going to put a piece of molding that will have a grove on the underside and wrap around the edge...that will lock in the cedar to the sides..and no splinters. The molding will protrude and match the lid overhang...just making it up as I go along...lol. thanks
If it is inside the work why not just make some 'L' trim of the aromatic cedar and use it for holding the planks?? Make sense? Tack the trim and 'L' holds floating cedar in place..
By the way.. I just LOVE ASH!

Will,
Good idea...the 'L trim'of cedar. I just hate working with the stuff, the dust seems to always get in my mouth...does not go well with my tea. thanks
