Does it matter which way a link belt travels? Intuitively, it seems like it would be better for the tab ends to lead since they are on the inside of the loop and would be “grabbed” first by the deepest part of the driving or driven pulley. Thanks

There should be little black arrows on the links pointing in the direction of travel. I know that the PowerTwist brand has these marks. (Are there other makers?)
The tabs should trail. Link belts have a direction arrow on them every 10th link. Also, this makes it easy to count the links. You can then multiply the link count by 0.750" and have the OD of the belt.
Thanks for the information. The belts came with no instructions and I didn't see the arrows nor did I think to look for some. They are really not that hard to see (head slap).
Thanks again.
There are arrows on link belts to show the preferred direction of movement but the belts will, in fact, run well in either direction and they are regularly used on drives that reverse direction.
I seem to recall that running the belt in the preferred direction makes it run a bit quieter but otherwise there is no difference.
