For unspecified reasons (cost?), Lie-Nielsen apparently is switching from rosewood to cocobolo as the alternative to the standard cherry wood for totes, handles, etc. I just received the cocobolo knob and tote for my 4-1/2 smoother, today. Very handsome, almost fancy look. If I knew how to post a photo, I would (never did like to read instructions). I personally wouldn’t want every plane to be this fussy in appearance, but its a great way to keep a beautiful specie of wood within reach. As you would expect, the machining is outstanding.
