Hello ! I could use a little help and I hope someone comes thru. I am building a 18″ X 48″ x 7″ rectangular box from hickory.I want to use my router table and router with a 45* locking miter bit. My problem is how do I make the locking joint on the end of the 48″ piece. What is the best way to keep the 48″ piece perpendictular to the table and router bit. My router table fence is aprox. 6″ tall. I’m assuming I have to build a jig to fit over the fence to slide the piece over the router bit. My big problem is keeping this long piece perpendictular to the table. Thanks for any help. Bob

Locking Miter Joint
I would suggest a very tall fence with a backer board fastened to the fence that is also nice and square to the table, guided by a t slot. That ought to provide the stablity you need. Good luck
Locking miter
If I may suggest, one board is to lay flat as it moves across the bit and the other upright. Just run the longer of the two boards flat on the table top and the shorter upright.
