I am preparing documentation for an urban forestry operation and need a table, or formulas, with which I can calculate the approximate yield for green logs of various sizes; the most obvious variable being how each log is sawn.
I can build an Excel spreadsheet from the ground up, but thought the brilliant folks here at Knots might be able to help keep me from reinventing the wheel.
Thanks,

Hey Jazz, when I bought my Woodmizer, they gave me a little pocket calculator which was a little cardboard sleeve with a card which slid up and down in the middle. In one little cut out window, you chose the diameter of the log inside of the bark of the small end of the log, then there were little windows for each 2' increments of length with the bf tally in the window. It is very handy and easy to use.Looks like now they sell a calculator. try this link.

Its just a plain old calculator it doesn't convert to board feet unless you use the "formula" thickness in inches x width in inches x length in inches divided by 144.
