I have a client who wants a London Telephone box in her living room. Any body ever see plans for such a thing?

Try looking up Dr Who or Tardis!
Baw,
What kind of telephone box does she mean?
The old red ones were scrapped by the General Post Office (Now British Telecom) many years ago. However, some olde villages and other scenic spots were allowed to keep theirs, as "traditional". Is this the type of box required?
The new telephone kiosks are not very attractive - can't imagine why anyone would want one of those. They are all grey and glass, a design of the most tedious and bland kind. Still, taste is a weird thang.
Incidentally, the Dr Who wassock uses a London police telephone box as his Tardis, not an ordinary telephone box. These too are all gone now as the rozzers have them lapel radio doofahs.
In all events, I doubt you will find a plan for any of these boxes so you may need to get a few photos from someone who passes the requisite structure in daily life.
Lataxe
PS Perhaps you could recommend a nice cabinet instead?
She wants classic red telephone box made a little bigger so she can sit down in it. I have a photo and may have to just do the best I can from that.
BA
Don't forget to include the smashed panes of glass, the obscene graffiti and the vile smells, all of which were part of the experience of using the box.
M, you mean like the Bell telephone urinals(with a bifold door for privacy) that we used to have in certain areas of larger cities? Alas progress turned them into alcoves on a post with a weather proof phone,
To the poster, there is a real red booth in Lyndenhurst NY. a sister town thing I think. If you fill in the basics in your profile we will know more of our ability to help you- like photos etc. Paddy
Lataxe, Did you ever notice that when you went to use one that although there would be nobody in sight, even out in the country,as soon as tou dialled your number there would be somebody outside waiting to get in. Regds. Boysie Slan Leat.I'm never always right but i'm always never wrong. Boysie
boysie,
You know, now that you mention it, the same thing happens to me when I connect to Knots with my dialup connection.
The wife needs to call someone, son need to use the phone. Guess I should be thankful and wait till they all retire for the night.
Maybe I should spend more time in the woodshop and less time in here? NOT, this is too much fun.
Regards,Bob @ Kidderville Acres
A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
Boysie,
I try never to phone people up as I know that the infernal instrument is invented by the divvil. If it wasn't illegal and hurtful to the talking-addicts, I would break them all up with a lump hammer, especially them mobile thangs that annoying people bellow into whilst you are trying to savour your coffee or read the next hilarious chapter of "The Fountainhead".
The thought of a disembodied voice fills me with a nameless dread, even though bodiless writing on this screen is a Fine Invention. Perhaps it's the store-and-forward nature of email and similar that appeals to me, whilst the need to make conversation without body language, second by second, is not an art I can manage too well.
Lataxe, a phonophobic
PS As to sitting in a phonebox to read or write - shudderrrrr!
bawood:
There a few things that could be more desirable or pleasing than a telephone box in one's living room. I am sure you will have other customers clamoring for one, particularly after they have cast their eyes on the first one.
Since they are four symetrical sides with a top, mass production will be a snap. Don't tell your client, though, as she may ask for royalties.
Good luck with your venture.

Not seen plans but if one of the sites linked from this one:

can't help, I doubt anyone can.
Cheers, Alf
Thanks Alf, sent the site on to my client.Bruce

no problem, the tele. box is situated in the front yard of a local bed and breakfast/antique store, si m sure the owner would be open to a little publicity and photos
