Hello
I would like to make a long shooting board. My old short one works fine but since the fence is not possible to adjust (screwed and glued), it is just a matter of time when I will have to make another one.
Anyway, I would like to have miter add-on which I can use from time to time. After some research on Internet, I saw that somebody used a big screw and an another one, which it operated by small knob. With the hole a little bit bigger, it is possible to fine adjust the angle of the fence and tightening it with the knob.
I was thinking about using the same system for miter add-on, but I am not sure if the knob itself would be enough to keep the add-on fixed during the work?
Or is there a better way to secure it but still make it not permanent?
Thanks.

I apologize it's not what you are asking. I had made a shooting board many years ago, and it was fine. It's really heavy, which probably helps. But a few years ago I started using my Lie Nielsen shooting plane with a Lee Valley shooting board. The LN and LV shooting planes both fit the LV shooting board.
The LV board has an adjustable fence for miters. It has an adjustable base to fine tune the plane's fit, and it's got the ultra slippery plastic to make the plane glide. I love it, and never pull out the one I made.
+1 for the LV shooting board. My wife got me that for my bday a couple years back. Coupled with the shooting plane it is an absolute joy to use and very easy to adjust. It gets used on nearly every project.
I have a similar set up that uses a pivot pin. Works pretty good. The issue is holding the material. I haven't done it, but maybe some sandpaper would help.
What do you mean exactly by holding the material? That the pieces slide back when positioned 45 degrees?
