Anyone have any suggestions re: finding a kiln operator near Middletown NY (zip 10940)? I’ve done lots of web searching, looked on WoodWeb etc, but have not been able to find someone within 100 miles.
I’ve got about 1800BF of 8/4″ Ash, Red Oak and Walnut that has been air drying for over a year (its now below 15% MC) and I’d like to kiln dry it.
Thanks!

There is one in Woodborne. I think the name is McGraw or something similar. I've bought wood from them in the past. Good Luck, Art
I recall hearing that ML Condons has a kiln.

The old fashioned way of the yellow pages and calling local sawmills is still a viable option. You might also check with http://nyle.com/ and see if they sold any units in your area. That's a pretty small batch of wood. There's also some simple solar klins that could be made cheaply and I think it was FWW that had a real small batch kiln someone rigged up with a few basic household items such as a space heater and dehumidifier.
Here is a forum for saw mills and related.

In the upper right on the home page there is a 'Find a Sawmill click here'. When you do, if you fill out the boxes for Country/State/Kilns it will give 3 names that offer drying services in NY. If they are too far from you, try and post the question in the forum's Drying and Processing section.
There is an article in the June 2006 issue of Woodwork Magazine on making a small dehumidifier kiln. Other magazines in the past including Fine WoodWorking have had similar articles. Your own small kiln might be an option if you can't find a commercial one in your area.
