Hey guys, I’m looking for an ad that was in FH or FW but cant remember which. It’s an ad for a 2.4 v cordless screw gun. I was interested in purchasing this screwgun to carry in my bag…..it seemed ideal for small jobs like outlets, switches, and such. Today, I was installing new blades on a ceiling fan and once again was thinking how handy this little gun, which according to the ad from taunton got such good reviews, would actually be. I don’t believe this article was part of a tool review but rather small or up to half a page…..there was a right up about it. Also, I think it was this year in 2006…..Possibly December ’05.
Thanks for the help.

I think you is thinking about the skil screw gun what comes in a can.
I seen it, I bought it, It was mentioned in the last FWW issue. It has a bunch of torque. I bought it cause it saves draggin out the huge angled drills to work screws in narrow cabinet boxes.
It does have substantially more power and life than it's size implies, but it is NOT variable speed, and the trigger is somewhat sluggish.
What I am using it for is kitchen installations, that is why I purchased it. So I is driving 1/2 and 5/8 and 1" #6 screws. It will get through a whole kitchen, installing slides, and hinges, but not drilling holes for knobs.
The trigger being sluggish, means that until you get used to it, you may strip out a screw or two. It does as I said, have more power than it's size implies. That being said, the charger is kinda non-industrial, if you don't set the drill down on it just right, it might not charge. .
While I don't rank this with some of the crapolla gimmicks the mass markerters try to flog on us, I ain't gonna rank it as a "must have" tool either. It simply fits in small spaces, and it has enuf power to drive in the screws I intend to use it for. It also fits in the pocket for small "screw-ups" tooo.
My kids think it is sexy, and if that helps them help me, it may well be worth more than it's cost doncha think.

replying to my self....whats that about eh?
just an update. this little toy skill 'lectric drill is so handy, can low torque that it don't strip out the screws when installing european hinges, fits into the smallest narrowwwwwwwwwest cabinets, and holds it's charge. Now I got two of the puppies. Oh ya, female clients think they are cute/sexy.
Meanwhile, a number of makita and dewalt batteries which cost more that the complete little skill drill have bit the dust. The 14.4 dewalt drills has tipped over and trashed surfaces. Not this puppy. It is so tiny, so gentle, it ain't a risk on the jobsite.

Cowtown, could you post the model# or a link to the item? I bought one Skill driver a couple years ago, and it must not be the one of which you speak, because it was verrrrry disappointing. I bought it for the very reason I needed something small to get in tight spaces.
