HI I’m looking for an electric bone saw made for carpenters.I saw one today on Ebay, for autopsies for $650.00.
About 4 years ago I saw a carpenter at a boat yard using one he said it cost around $200.00.The saw was the size of 4 inch grinder with a thin half round or third round blade. It moved back and fourth at a high RPM ,and cut very fast. If any one knows of a brand name or another name other than ‘bone saw’ please let me know. Thanks James [email protected]

The Fien sanders have a blade attachment that cuts very well, also has an offset so it will do flush cutting. I have seen the kit that includes the basic sanding & 1 or 2 blades addvertised for $179.99
to VikingVood and Ben1109
thanks for the info James
James: the link below is for Fein power tools. The tool you described sounds like a Multimaster tool. This tool has many uses using different blades. Surf the web site and you'll see what I mean. Good luck

The "bone saw" used in autopsies is the same as the castcutter used for removing plaster or fiberglass casts. The blade, which has fine teeth, does not rotate, but oscillates through a very small arc. You can run it against your skin without injury, which I always did to reassure children who were frightened by the loud noise. I once brought my castcutter home to cut a hole for an electrical box. It worked beautifully. It will cut ridgid material, but not soft material. They are sold though medical and surgical supply houses, made by Stryker.
