I am looking for planes for a Bavarian style Corner Bench ( Breakfast Nook) and Table. I googled all over without luck. Can anyone help out? Hilmar | |

Why do you feel you need a specific plan?

I am trying to figure this thing out. It supposed to have 3 pieces on the bench part.
A left, a right and in the corner a 45 deg. part. You lift up the seat and store Magazines or what ever in it. I can't come up with the design.
Some thing like so

It might help if you thought about it functionally. As I understand what you are looking for, here is the way I might break it down:1) You need three boxes for seats -- left, right, and corner. 2) Presumably you need a back for each box. the hard part would be figuring out how to do the corner back. 3) A plain slab table is easy enough -- say out of 8/4 stock -- made to the size you need with enough room for folks to slide in. 4) how to support the table slab? If the slab is not too big, a single pedestal would work. Otherwise, you could do a double pedestal. You could rig the base, so you could dump some lead shot (or even sand bags) in it, if stability is an issue. From a design point of view, the main thing is to find some way to dress up the boxes -- e.g. raised panels, slats (run straight or in a pattern), etc. Make a toe kick at the bottom of each box, so you're not banging your feet as you slide in and out. For the seating slab/lid, you could make it flat and have a cushion made; or if you wanted to go fancy, use thick, solid wood, and hollow it out (like a church pew).As for resolving the right and left with the corner backs, I would suggest just getting out some graph paper and noodling around to see what you come up with. for something like this, I will often make a full size mock up with cardboard or 1/4" luan plywood. Once I actually see it that way, a solution almost always reveals itself.Hope this helps. ********************************************************

Don't know about plans, but here's a good site for design ideas:

That is exactly what I was looking for. Guess now I have to come up with a plan. Thanks Ken

I found this website when I was looking around for the same thing. Just click on the Breakfast Booth link. THis guy is pretty impressive especially when you look at his shop. He doesn't have any plans for this but he has pretty detailed pictures during the progress.

Impressive is the least to say. Some shop and the fine stairs he puts out

Buzz, that link came up with an "expired domain" page when I clicked on it. Could you double-check please? Thanks!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Jamie,
You are right. I hadn't accessed that site for a while and went there last week. It looks like it expired on 5/17 and he has to renew it. It is too bad because this guy's shop is unbelievable. I'll snoop around some more but it looks like he has to renew...

What is with this < reply delete edit > on the end of my posts? Don't see it on other posts.
Hilmar
You will only see the Delete and Edit options on the posts you make. Enables you (but no one else!) to modify the posts you made (Reply is on all of them though). forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)

The site you mention must have gone out today. I was on it this morning and it looked OK.

Jamie,
I knew you would be impressed. I just came along this website about a year ago when I was looking for kitchen booth plans. His shop looks like an airplane hanger...Regards,
