Hi George,
If you don't get an answer from someone here who has used one, you may try both in the hand tools forum as well as at WoodCentral's hand tool forum. I mention WoodCentral because there are quite a few people there that I know who are fequent customers of Japan Woodworker.
I haven't used that stone. From looking at it on Japan Woodworker's web site, it is relatively the same relative cost as the King brand et al stones of the same grit. I wouldn't rule out buying it if I was in the market for a 6k stone. My only hesitation would be probably like yours...I know the quality of certain brands of stones and this one is an unknown quantity to me. But Japan Woodworker seems to offer good quality kit, so that is what would help me get over the hesitation.
Take care, Mike
Thx for the tip on woodcentral. Got a couple of responses but they made it into another discussion (scary sharp).
Mailed japan woodworker with my questions.
Apparantly no one use the M5 series from Shapton ?
I just took a look on Harrelson's web site, which are the M5 series?
I do use the professional series Shaptons, fwiw.
Take care, Mike
The M5 series is sold at japan woodworker as well. I think it's one of their earlier series. Less ceramic particles than the M15 i think.
