Mornin all,
This might be a dumb question, but I am building a mahogney book case for my wiff.. and I decided to put piano hinges on the doors.. Anyone know where I can buy black piano hinges? I dont want brass or nickel piano hinges taking away from the look of the mahogney….
my bookcase is 60″ x 60″ x 14″ deep…. doors are going to be roughly 29″ x 56″.. yeah I know huge doors, but I think it will look decent…. you can see a rough idea of what my doors will look like here… http://www.furiouspantaloons.org/pp/img/01440.jpg
If you have any other suggestions or recommendations I would love to hear them.. I am pretty new to the hobby….
thanks in advance,
+Lee Smith

Black piano hinges. That would really be a specialty item. You may need to have brass hinges anodized for you (or do it yourself).
Some of the chemical solutions meant to give brass a patina can result in a very dark green, almost black effect.

McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com) has them in black enamel, and in antique bronze.
thanks all.. I thought about the patina look, but I would fear unusual wear since it is a hinge and all...
Checking out Mcmaster now... I knew someone prolly had a link to a specialty place...
THanks all,
+Lee
