A customer of mine would like me to build her a “deacon’s bench”. After a long search, I found a few pictures (it’s like a church pew, only shorter: for one person).
Anyone ever build one? Anyone seen a plan for one? Some of them are quite intricate and beautiful; others are austere and simple.
I don’t imagine I’ll see any replies to this because it borders on the obscure, but let me know if you have anything!

Jack,
It's not a plan but gives you an idea of what a deacons bench is.

Hey, what a great link! Thank you!

Jack,
You might want to do a google search for deacon's bench plans and see what you get.

I am not trying to be a smart ***, But why does everyone look for plans? If you are going to be a woodworker, learn to design and put it on paper . Don't rely on other people to do your work for you. Put your own personality in your design and projects.
Also if you are doing a project for someone, you can bill for the design work.
Just my thoughts, David
You are so right! Any furniture that I have designed have all been boxes: beds, chests, desks and so on. To build something that might have a curve in it scares me deeply. But, I will give it some thought and run a pencil around some paper and see what happens!
Thanks for the kick!

Good luck, this is where the fun begins.

Nothing comes to mind, though the term is familiar. I'd try a Google search, and also a search of our gallery here on Finewoodworking.com.
