Looking for Plans for mobile lumber rack
Can someone point me to plans for a mobile lumber storage cart.
I want the rack to hold 4 x8 sheets and have horizontal storage for boards.
I think I want “V” shape for the sheets and upright rack arms .
I have one bay of a 2 car garage with 9′ ceilings and would like about an 8 x 4 foot print.
I would also like to see any pictures of your storage racks.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks much

Hi Bill,
I don't usually go into this forum but I just happened to notice your post and have a suggestion if you still need one. The book Smart Workshop Solutions by Paul Anthony from Taunton has a free standing storage rack on page 41 that I think could be easily converted to mobile just by adding casters. Check your local library for the book. If they don't have it, you my be able to request it by an inter-library loan.
Hope it helps,
Eric
I don't have photos, but I have a lumber rack on wheels because the only spot in my shop for it blocks a seldom-used doorway. The base is a 2' x 8' torsion box made of 1/2" ply and 2x4s. The front half is a set of 1' wide shelves supported by 1" conduit set into holes in 4 vertical plywood-reinforced 2x4s that each have a diagonal 2x2 going from the top to the back edge of the base. Two 8' plywood strips and one 8' 2x4 at the ridge connect the verticals, each of which has a crosspiece at the bottom to spread the weight across the base. The back diagonals have a shelf at the bottom, so I can store full sheets of plywood. I can store long narrow partial sheets within the triangle, and cutoffs between the bottom crosspieces. It's heavy. I keep the base position locked with wedges, and when I move it, I use a special wooden wrench to first orient the wheels in the direction I want it to go. It works fine, but a static lumber rack would be simpler if I had anywhere to put it.
