Can anyone tell of a source for a cutting tool that can be used to round or give a dome shape to the end of a piece of round stock? I’m looking for one that can be used in either a drill or brace to create a softened appearance to the ends of some rustic style furniture. The Old Hickory furniturer company uses this treatment on some of thier pieces.
Thanks for your help.

p. 90 of the highland hardware summer 2002 catalog- these are hand tools but maybe you can adapt them to a drill or brace.

Mitch,
Thanks for the reply. I don't have a current copy of the Highland Hardware Book and was unable to find it listed on thier website. I will request a catalogue from them but in the mean time I would appreciate the following info from you. What size of stock will it handle and what is the cost?
Thanks again,

Splint,
Garrett Wade has them on page 82 of the july 2002 catalog - They have 2 different types - Rounding tools (item # 87M12.03) and doming tools(87M112.01), each comes in a set of 3 sizes (1/2, 3/4, and 1") for $25.95 and $26.95 each set, respectively. The rounding tool puts a round tapered shape on the end of both round or square cross-section stock, the doming tool is used to dome over the end of a piece of round stock. Hope this helps. Garrett wade's phone # is 800-221-2942.

168011 3-Piece Dowel Baller Set $19.99 "
hope this helps.
