Looking for the plans to make this urn please
Our son passed recently and I really wanted to build a wooden urn box for him. I found this picture but I cannot find the plans. Can anyone offer some assistance? This urn would be perfect for him.
Thank you,
David White

I offer my deepest sympathies for the lost of your son. If the world were a just place, parents would never outlive their children.
It looks kind of Green & Green ish. You might want to start with one of Darrell Peart's books. From the info in his books, even if you can't find the exact plan, you could probably come up with your own. Could also try searching for Green Green style plans. But will likely just get a lot of eco friendly type projects. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll make it for you.
I also grieve your loss. I have buried two sisters and made urns for both of them. However, mine weren't very elaborate. Just simple hand dovetailed boxes. But that personal touch helped me at a time when I felt so helpless and they also provided a sense of comfort to the families. So, don't get mired down by an elaborate project. I guarantee that whatever you do will greatly appreciated by everyone, including yourself.
David, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I'm also sorry that I never received notification of your post. This was my project that I built for my father when he passed. There are no plans other than a full scale drawing that I did. Again I'm sorry to hear and wish I could have helped. Robert.
Robert, my dad isn't doing well and may need to make an urn for him soon. This is a beautiful design. What are the dimensions?
So sorry to hear. For the base the dimensions are 11" long x 6.5" wide. The legs are 5" long, 1" square. The top is .75" thick and overhangs the base by 1/4" on all sides except on the corners where the ends of the bridle joints extend an additional 1/8". All set backs and roundovers are 1/8". The ebony buttons are 3/16 square I believe. If you can find pics of the Gamble House living room plant stand, that is what I based the top on.. Honduras mahogany and ebony. Please let me know if this makes sense or if you have any further questions. Robert.
Hi Robert. Thank you very much. It's enough info for me. Hopefully I make it and my dad doesn't need it for a long time. In all honesty, if he gets to see Thanksgiving and Christmas I will be happy. Hard to tell.
Buried my 13 yo son. Regardless, with all the embellishments I'd say it's an arts & crafts urn. Remember, it's for you & your wife to look at and touch, so no urn will be wrong.
