Hi to all,
I am fairly new to wood working and have been having a hard time finding some decent wood to work with in Southern Idaho.
I am interested in trying to find some Walnut and Cherry. I know that a lot of you probably have a pile of cut offs that you end up buring to heat the shop of just throw out.
I would be willing to pay shipping if you have some decent pieces that I could use for this and that.
If you have some scrap that you would be willing to get rid of let me know.
Thanks in advance for any offers.

jmoo,
I've burned tons of smaller pieces of cherry and balck walnut.. any piece thinner than an inch or under four feet goes in the burn pile, I just don't have space for it..
The trouble is even if you pay for shipping, somebodies got wrap the stuff up and haul it to fed ex or someplace.. Stop by and you can have all my scraps.. Or drive a little further and you can get a truck load of thins for $20.00 from my sawmill.
OK frenchy...I've heard you mention your sawmill and the great prices on walnut too many times.
Care to share? I'm in St. Paul now.

Glad to, Johnson brothers logging in Cannon Falls Minnesota.. just south of Cannon Falls on the east side of Hwy 52
Thanks a lot Frenchy - I'd come across them on the internet, but haven't gotten down there yet. Now I've got good reason to.
Check out e-bay there are some very good sellers in Oregon that I have bought Walnut from. Even with the shipping costs the price has been good for what I have gotten.

If you are anywhere close to Boise, there's a place called High Desert Hardwood, Inc., owned/operated by a most wonderful fellow named Ron Worden. Address is 1758 E. State Street, Eagle, ID. Phone (208) 939-9366. When i was woodworking, i bought #1 Common from them that looked like other yards' FAS. They carry a full line of domestics as well as a very good supply of the 'normal' exotics like purpleheart, padauk, etc.
Thanks for the info. I will check that you. Only 2 hrs East of Boise.Jmoo--------Learning as I go
High Desert was supplying a lot of school shop programs up here (i'm in MT), so i used to get a big order once or twice a year, delivered. I do know that they sell retail at the shop in Eagle, as well, but they may also sell to someone in your area who might be willing to sell you a few boards reasonably - a call to Ron would tell you - but i heartily recommend the trip to the warehouse/shop.
How much do you need? I have a slab that is probably 30 years old in great condition.
