Hello All,
I’m new to woodworking. I’ve taken one course and know basic carpentry and plan to continue to take courses (it’s been a challenge to find in-person options). However, I learn through doing and seeing up close and would love to meet some folks in the Portland woodworking community that are gracious enough to show an amateur some new skills. I’m happy to lend labor in return.
Cheers,
JP

Which Portland?

Oh well... may have been able to help you out in the other Portland. Best of luck.
Haaaa... nice catch.
I am sure there is likely a woodworking club of some kind in the area. I'd suggest joining it. You will meet folks in the hobby who are local and from there you will develop a network of friends who will very much enjoy talking about woodworking. About a year ago, I joined a local woodworking club in the Bay Area after about 5 years of working in my garage. I wish I had done so sooner. Very nice group of folks.
A respected woodworking teacher and author and contributor to Fine Woodworking magazine runs a school for woodworkers in Portland, OR.

If there are opportunities in your area, Gary would probably know about it.

There's a local guild in Portland:

You could search for "woodworking guilds" in your area.
