Time to buy a good dust mask/respirator. I am willing to pay the big bucks I know they ask for a quality mask. But what’s available and what comfort level and will they work with larger ear protectors (not the little foam things)? Thanks.

Big Bucks? Try 3M - They sell one to coal companies for $ 750.00. I think it could come with a mask and attached ear muffs. Looks pretty good but I thought it a little too much for me. Probably look cheap compared to a lung transplant - if that were possible.

Too big. The bucks that is. I am thinking 2-300.00.
Yes, I thought that might be a little bit to much. I think you could get a pretty good one at your price. I found an old dusty one from an apartment that I cleaned out. It was around here for a year or two when I got around to seeing if it was anything to salvage I found that the package had never been opened. I still haven't opened the package and am wondering if it is for gasses rather that air particles.
Not many use high end dust masks with replaceable filters for general shop work. They are too uncomfortable and start stinking for all day use. I use a Good 3M in the spray booth and the folding disposable masks made by Fastcap.
Pardon my spelling,
Mike
Make sure that your next project is beyond your skill and requires tools you don't have. You won't regret it.
I don't know what your use is and I'm not a respirator expert, but I bought a half mask and a few filters that I think will cover any woodwork related project I want to do. That includes working with exotic woods and finishing chemicals.
I got the 3M 7502 half mask with P95 and P100 particulate filters and 6001 organic vapour filters. Total cost just under $100 Cdn. That would be about $100 USD or so. :) The full face version would be more like $200 with filters.

If you don't need a "real" respirator for spraying, etc., the following dusk mask from amazon is great and inexpensive. AO Safety Woodworker's Respirator #95190. I think it was 15.00 or so. Comfortable, lightweight, tight fitting, and ugly as hell. PMM
